Voici quelques designs d'emballage de bière qui m'ont été soumis depuis quelques mois.

Here is a few beer packaging design that have been submitted in the last few months.

KARMI | Studio DN Pologne

Je n'ai pas été vraiment actif comme bloggeur ces derniers temps mais j'ai reçu ce design par une firme de Pologne et je voulais le publier.

I have not been a active blogger for the last month but this art work was submitted to Beer Packaging Design from DN Design Group from Poland. Nice custom bottle shape.

« Carlsberg Poland and Studio DN have launched new packaging designs for caramel beer Karmi. The new packaging was designed by branding agency Studio DN. Up to now Karmi has been available in non-alcoholic version only, but a new line – Karmi Black – overbears this trend. New bottle is well-shaped and feminine. Colour code reveals stronger, alcoholic character. Its feminine nature is emphasized by slender of the bottle and carving in shape of a shawl wrapped around the “neck” and “waist”. And you can drink it straight from the bottle!

NØRREBRO BRYGHUS | Globe Ale | Copenhagen

Alors que se déroule la Conférence des Nations Unies sur les changements climatiques, il est plus qu'approprié de voir comment certains brasseurs arrivent à innover et à réduire leur empreinte écologique. The United Nations Conference on the Climate Changes began this week and it is more than appropriate to find out how some breweries are innovating and reducing their carbon footprint.


Directement sur place à Copenhague, la microbrasserie Nørrebro Bryghus a lancée cette année la Globe Ale; la première bière du pays à être carbone neutre, c'est-à-dire que la microbrasserie achète et détruit des quotas de CO2 pour compenser les 940 g par bouteilles qu'elle génère. Le design d'emballage a été fait par la firme Punktum Design.

The Globe Ale from the Nørrebro Bryghus microbrewery established in 2003 in Copenhagen; the first carbon neutral beer in Denmark, is "brewed with an active global environmental forethought. Every bottle of beer emits 940 g of CO2, which has been removed from the environment by buying and destroying CO2 quotas." The packaging design as been developed by Punktum Design.

Bière-en-boîte | Beer-in-Box

Afin de maximiser le transport et minimiser les coûts d'emballage de la bière, il est maintenant possible vendre sa bière en boîte. Le principe de Beer-in-Box est pas mal; on fait la bière dans les règles de l'art, on retire le CO2, on met la bière «flat» en sacs et en boîtes bien carré, près à expédier. Le CO2 est ajouté au moment de servir grâce a un carbonateur spécialement développé. C'est la brasserie Ankerbräu Nördlingen, en Bavière, qui a le plus de succès avec ce concept. «En 2009, on estime le volumes de vente de Beer-in-Box à 7 000 hl alors qu'il était de 2 500 hl en 2008.» Une belle initiative de développement durable si la qualité du produit est conservée.

In order to maximize the cost of transport and beer packaging, a new system Beer-in-Box was developed. It is a quite simple idea; making real beer in the traditional way, remove the CO2, put the flat beer in a bag then in a square box and it is ready for shipping. A special carbonator will add the CO2 while pouring the beer. It is the Bavarian Ankerbräu Nördlingen brewery that has the best success with this system. "In 2009 the Beer-in-Box sales reached 7 000 hl, it was 2 500 hl in 2008." A nice sustainable packaging idea if the quality of the product is not hurt.

Ísland Bjór |8| VIKING ÖLGERD STOUT

Il y a sans doute d'autres bières Islandaises (laissez-moi savoir si vous en connaissez). Pour ma part, elle est la dernière de la série de bières que j'ai eu la chance de goûter lors de mon court séjour dans ce pays nordique. Elle ne se retrouve pas sur le site de la compagnie, mais selon l'étiquette, cette bière de type stout (5,8% Alc./Vol.) est brassée par compagnie Vifilfell Ltd à Akureyri.

There must be other Icelandic beers out there (let me know) but this is the last one I personally tried during my short trip to this country. Although it does not appear on their website, this stout beer (5,8% Alc./Vol.) is probably brewed by Vifilfell Ltd based in Akureyri.

La micro-brasserie Ölvisholt Brugghús est sans doute la seule à offrir une variété de bières uniques et originales. Cette brasserie est située dans la ville de Selfoss. La bière principale, la Skjálfti est aussi une lager blonde, comme c’est généralement le cas. On y brasse aussi la Lava, une intense Smoked Imperial Stout à 9,4% Acl./Vol. Les bières de Ölvisholt Brugghús sont généralement bien classées par les critiques de bières.

The Ölvisholt Brugghús brewery probably is the only one offering a wide range of unique and original beers in Iceland. This brewery is located in the town of Selfoss about 60km out of Reykjavik. Like the others, the main beer; Skjálfti is a blonde lager. They also brew the surprising Lava a Smoked Imperial Stout (9,4% Alc./Vol.). The Ölvisholt Brugghús beers are in general well rated by beer tasters.

La Kaldi est une bière lager de tradition tchèque. Les recettes ont été développées par un maître brasseur Tchèque, et sauf l'eau, les ingrédients proviennent tous de la République. Il y a deux bières disponibles dans les magasins Vínbúð, une lager blonde et une lager foncée. J'ai personnellement apprécié la foncée. Elles sont brassées dans le petit village de Árskogssandur au nord d'Akureiry par la micro-brasserie Bruggsmidjan ehf. Selon leur page web ils brassent aussi la bière Gullfoss.

The Kaldi beers are made from Czech traditional recipes developed by a brewmaster from Czech Republic. All ingredients are also imported from this country except for water. There are two lager beers available in the Vínbúð liquor store, the blonde lager and the dark lager. I personally enjoyed the dark lager. The Bruggsmidjan ehf. microbrewery is located in the small village of Árskogssandur, north of Akureiry. According to their website, they also brew the Gullfoss beer.

Ísland Bjór |5| EL GRILLO

La bière El Grillo (5% alc.vol.) est brassée pour le compte de Eyþór Þórisson par la compagnie Egill. Eyþór Þórisson est tenant de restaurant dans un petit village de l'Est; Seyðisfjörður et la El Grillo est une recette originale qu'il a développée lui-même et qu'il fait brasser à contrat. C'est vrai, «El Grillo» ne sonne pas très germano-islandais, et pour cause, la marque utilise le nom d'un navire ayant coulé près des côtes lors de la deuxième guerre mondiale en 1944. L'étiquette est un peu «cheap», le navire en question était anglais, j'en perds mon latin...

The El Grillo (5% alc.vol.) beer is brewed by the Egill Company for Eyþór Þórisson, a restaurant owner in the small village of Seyðisfjörður, East of Iceland. The beer is made according to his own recipe and uses the name a shipwreck for brand. The El Grillo was a Brithish Oil tanker that sank close to the village in 1944, this is where the Latin beer name came from, go wonder? There is place for improvement on the label design.

Ísland Bjór |4| JÖKULL

Une autre bière de micro-brasserie faite à partir d'eau de glaciers, les eaux du célèbre Snæfellsjökull. Le nom Jökull signifie glacier en islandais. La Jökull est brassée par Mjöður ehf. dans la petite ville de Stykkishólmur. La micro semble tenir à coeur l'environnement car elle est certifiée Green Globe. Cette bière rafraîchissante au goût très léger est parfaite pour ceux qui n'aiment pas vraiment boire de la bière.

This other microbrewery beer is made out of glacier water from the famous Snæfellsjökull. The name Jökull means glacier in Icelandic. The lager beer is brewed by Mjöður ehf. in the small town of Stykkishólmur. By being certified by the Green Globe Programme, the small brewery shows that environment is a concern. It is a very light taste beer, yet refreshing, it's perfect for those who don't like beer.

La Gullfoss est une bière de type Lager (5% acl./vol.) de micro brasserie qui utilise comme image de marque les célèbres chutes du même nom qui signifie «chute d'or» dans la langue islandaise.

The Gullfoss is a lager beer (5% alc./vol.) The brand is named after the country's most famous waterfalls the ''golden falls'' in Icelandic.

Ísland Bjór |2| VIKING ÖLGERD

La marque Viking Gillture (2e à gauche) une bière de type lager (5,6% alc./vol) est sans doute la plus importante et la plus commerciale des bières islandaises. La compagnie Vifilfell Ltd située dans la belle ville d'Akureyri au nord de l'Islande est le propriétaire de la brasserie Viking Ölgerd qui brasse aussi notamment la populaire Thule. La Viking est souvent l'unique bière en fut disponible dans les bars.

The Viking Gillture brand (2nd from left), a lager type beer (5,6% alc./vol) seems to be the most important and commercial of Icelandic beers. The Vifilfell Ltd company located in Akureyri, North of Iceland is the owner f the Viking Ölgerd brewery that also brews the popular Thule beer. The Viking is often the only beer available on tap in Icelandic bars.

Ísland Bjór |1| GULL

Peut-être une des première chose à savoir sur la bière Islandaise est sa prohibition jusqu'en 1989. En fait elle était permise, mais avec un taux d'alcool inférieur à 2,5%. Les bières de type blonde Lager y sont très populaires, un peu trop populaire à mon avis.

Perhaps one of the first thing to know about beer in Iceland is that it was prohibited until 1989. I fact the beer was allowed if the alcohol by volume was inferior to 2,5%. Light blonde lager beer is almost the only type available on the market.

La marque Egils a survécue à cette prohibition en produisant entre autres des bières légères, la compagnie Ölgerðin Egill Skallagrímsson ehf. en affaires depuis 1913 est propriétaire de la marque. La Gull (5%) est l'une des bières brassées aujourd'hui par l'entreprise basée à Reykjavik. La cannette de 500ml est sans aucun doute le contenant le plus utilisé en Islande.

Egils is one of the brand that survived the dry century by brewing light products, the Ölgerðin Egill Skallagrímsson ehf. company in Reykjavik is the owner of the brand. The Gull (5%) is one of their beer and the 500ml can is the most common packaging for beer in Iceland.

Innis & Gunn | Oak Aged Beer

Voici une vraie bière de luxe. Une bière d'Écosse brassée par Innis & Gunn qui vieillie en barils de chêne qui ont servi à vieillir du bourbon. Elle est embouteillée dans une bouteille claire unique. Celle-ci est une édition spéciale qui poursuit son vieillissement en barils de rhum. Le design d'emballage vient de la firme Stranger & Stranger.

This is what we can call a premium beer. In Scotland, the Innis & Gunn brewery make this unique beer that is aged in American bourbon cask before being bottled in a custom molded clear bottle. This one is a limited edition that was aged a second time in special navy rum cask. The packaging has been designed by Stranger & Stranger.

Bière blanche aux herbes

Au large de la Méditerrané, en Corse, on brasse de la bière originale. L’île et ces habitants ont une culture et une histoire bien distinctes de son pays d’attache la France. Cette petite région insulaire est l’hôte de la micro brasserie Pietra, qui brasse notamment la bière d’orge et de froment (blé tendre) infusée aux herbes du maquis (arbousier, myrte, genévrier). Le design d’emballage la Colomba est ordinaire, l’étiquette un peu trop massive, mais c’est un détail, le contenue semble délicieux. Un jour, j’irai en Corse.

On the Mediterranean Sea there is a small, not so small island that brew craft beers. Corsica has a history and culture of it’s own. The Pietra brewery makes this white beer, brewed from barley and wheat and flavored with herbs from the Corsican maquis (tree strawberry, myrtle, juniper). The packaging design of this beer has nothing special except that it looks too big on the bottle. I would still love to taste it one day staring at the old sea on a sunny day.
